The USS New York (LPD-21) will depart Naval Station Norfolk for her new homeport in Mayport, Florida on December 4th.
The move is part of an amphibious ready group homeport change in support of strategic dispersal and two viable East Coast surface ship homeports.
The USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) and the USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43) are scheduled to move to Mayport in 2014.
The moves were announced on June 15, 2012 by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus.
