Chesapeake, Va. – Two adults were displaced by an apartment fire in Chesapeake Sunday night. Firefighters were able to rescue four of five cats living with the two people in the apartment. The fifth cat remains unaccounted for.

Firefighters arrived at the blaze on Wimbledon Chase in the Great Bridge section of the city around 10:45 and found a fire in the apartment’s laundry room. It took them about twenty minutes to bring the fire under control.

The rescued cats were transported to an emergency veterinarian by Chesapeake Police Officers.

There were no injuries, and the displaced occupants made their own lodging arrangements. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
