Routine traffic stop in Chesapeake results in police pursuit

Chesapeake, Va. – Police are investigating a vehicle pursuit in Chesapeake, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

The pursuit began on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 8:58 a.m. on Commerce Avenue and Ohio Street.

Police say it was the result of a routine traffic stop; the driver refused to stop.

The pursuit went into Virginia Beach and into Norfolk.

The driver of the vehicle and a passenger ran away from the scene in the area of Lake Edwards and White Hall in Virginia Beach. Police say at least one person is in custody.
