Child struck by vehicle in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. – An 8-year-old has been struck by a vehicle in Virginia Beach, police tell NewsChannel 3.

The call came in at 8:09 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. The caller reported that an 8-year-old had been struck by a vehicle while running to catch up with a school bus near Tower Bridge Loop and Seven Kings Road. Police say the child darted in front of a car that was traveling at a slow speed.

The child was transported to a local hospital after complaining of a leg injury.

The bus was stopped at a bus stop at the time of the incident. The car did not pass the stopped school bus, but was approaching it, police say.
