Heartwarming video captures special needs student’s reaction to being accepted into college

“Congratulations. You have been accepted.”

In this video which has now gone viral, Rion Holcombe, a 20-year-old Down syndrome student, opens a letter that will change his life.

“I got accepted?” he asked after hearing the news.

The answer, is yes!

Video of Holcombe opening the acceptance letter was posted to YouTube on Dec. 6. The heartwarming moment captured on camera has been seen more than 923,000 times.

Holcombe was accepted into the Clemson Life program at Clemson University in South Carolina. The program is designed for students with intellectual disabilities who want to pursue a post-secondary education on a college campus.
