Southampton County, Va. – A Hampton man was killed in a crash on Southampton Parkway near Adams Grove Saturday morning.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Stephen Williams of Hampton. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Witnesses told deputies the man was driving recklessly and swerving on the road before the crash, and may have been using a handheld electronic device while driving.
Deputies say speed and alcohol were not a factor and they believe distracted driving is the cause of the crash.
The identity of the driver is being held pending notification of next of kin.
