The Chesapeake Police Department’s Emergency Dispatch Center is experiencing technical complications with its phone system.
They say it may appear that the phone line has disconnected but it may not have lost the connection.
Remain on the line until certain the connection has been lost and call back immediately.
The problem is affecting both 911 and the 382-6161 non-emergency number.
The police department has technicians working on the system and anticipate the matter will be resolved soon.
