Newport News, Va. – On Wednesday morning, a Newport News police car was hit by gunfire while on patrol.
Police say this happened just after 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
The police car was in the area of Circuit Lane and Deputy Lane after getting calls about shots fired in the area. The marked patrol car was hit in the right rear door by a bullet.
The officer was not hurt during this incident police say.
Police are still investigating this case.
