Section of Landstown Road to close temporarily

Posted

Virginia Beach, Va. – A portion of Landstown Road – from the Sportsplex to Salem Road – will be closed beginning Friday, January 17, 2014, through Sunday, February 9, 2014 due to road reconstruction and milling/paving operations.

The road reconstruction work will produce traffic delays, congestion and some construction noise. The road closure is needed so as to limit through traffic from Salem Road to Dam Neck Road during construction/repairs.

Emergency vehicles will have access when needed.

Upon completion of the road reconstruction work, milling/paving operations – from the 90-degree curve just south of the Sportsplex to Salem Road – will continue from Sunday, February 9, 2014, through Friday, February 21, 2014. Through traffic will be allowed, but a flagging operation will be in place for traffic control each day from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Advanced warning signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of detour route.

Citizens are urged to use alternate traffic routes when possible or following the detour which will be clearly marked.

All work is weather-permitting.
