Suffolk, Va. - A Suffolk couple accused of burning their son as punishment is expected in court today.
According to court documents, Bernard and Vallerie Esannason - both sailors - forced the 4-year-old into a scalding hot shower as a punishment for misbehaving.
The child's babysitter told NewsChannel 3 she noticed burns all over his body and took the boy to the hospital.
Court documents say doctors had to perform surgery to save the child's arm.
The couple is facing a number of charges, including cruelty and injuries to children.
