A Norfolk woman has won $500,000 off a Virginia Lottery scratcher.
Nelda Booker likes to stop at her favorite 7-Eleven in Virginia Beach for a cup of coffee on her way home from work every day. She often buys a Virginia Lottery ticket or two.
That routine got exciting when she had one lucky day!
Nelda scratched a ticket and won $100. She then used part of her winnings to buy a Millionaire Mania ticket.
A moment later she returned to the store clerk, who asked, “Did you have another $100 winner?”
“Oh no,” she replied. “I’ve got a BIG winner!”
That turned turned out to be a $500,000 winner.
In Millionaire Mania, $500,000 is actually the second prize. The game’s top prize is $2 million. Ms. Booker is the game’s fourth $500,000 winner, which means two half-million-dollar tickets remain unclaimed. One $2 million ticket remains unclaimed.
Ms. Booker said she has no immediate plans for her winnings. “I’m just going to let it settle in,” she said.
