Virginia Beach, Va. - Virginia Beach EMS captain David Baust was silent as he walked into a Virginia Beach courtroom in handcuffs on Tuesday.
Police were called to Baust's home last week after his girlfriend reported she had been strangled by him. He then turned himself in to Virginia Beach Police.
In court, a judge granted Baust a $2,500 bond after his defense attorney said he's a servant to the community and had been a rescue worker 28 years.
Prosecutors told the judge the victim doesn't oppose Baust being released, but she's demanding he doesn't contact her.
NewsChannel 3 asked Baust for an interview, but he declined. He will be back in court in April.
