Today we honor Tidewater's Montford Point Marines.
They became marines at a segregated boot camp, known as Montford Point, in 1942.
They served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and received the congressional gold medal in 2011.
The ship, US NS Montford Point was named to honor these men.
Newschannel three thanks them for their service
