Firefighters battle brush fire in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – Firefighters in Suffolk battled a brush fire Sunday afternoon at the end of Brook Ave. near the Colander Bishop Apartments.

According to a city spokesperson, the call came in at 12:37 p.m.  Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews arrived at the scene about eight minutes later.

The fire extended into a wooded area near the power line right-of-way.

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to contain the fire.  About 12 acres of brush were burned as a result.

No one was injured.  The cause of the fire is undetermined.
