Norfolk Police report that a 10-year-old was stabbed in the 100 block of West Balview Avenue on Monday afternoon.
Police say they received the call at 2:49 p.m.
Police say 60-year-old Melvin Williams knocked on the door of the victim’s residence and his grandmother answered the door.
The grandmother quickly tried to close the door as Williams was seen behaving erratically with a knife in his possession.
After the grandmother closed the door, the 10-year-old boy attempted to run inside the residence and was stabbed at that time by Williams.
The juvenile was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Williams was arrested and charged with one count of felonious assault in the incident. He is currently in the Norfolk City Jail on no bond.
Additional updates will be posted as they become available.
