25th Annual Taste of Hampton Roads in Virginia Beach

Posted

Norfolk, Va. – Tonight, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore will host the 25th Annual Taste of Hampton Roads.

The event will be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The event, which will generate over 650,000 meals for those facing hunger in our community, is sold out – and features more than 40 local restaurants which will present their finest dishes to an expected 1,500 guests.

“We are so thankful for the amazing support of all the local businesses and people that make this event possible,” says Marianne Smith Vargas, Chief Philanthropy Officer for the Foodbank. “The weather initially threw us a curve ball, but all of our restaurants and partners pulled together yesterday and this morning to make sure we are ready to open the doors this evening.”

A special VIP reception, which will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., will feature a “thrilling Iron Chef-style competition” with chefs from CP Shucker’s, the Virginia Art Institute, Thirty 7 North and the Swan Terrace.

In the spirit of the theme to ‘Come to Our Table’, the competitors are dishing up food that is produced or grown locally.

The VIP chefs are tasked with incorporating a locally harvested mystery ingredient into their dish.

The main event will include musical entertainment by the Michael Clark Band, casino games provided by Astro Entertainment, and souvenir photos courtesy of Boardwalk Photo Booth.

Top sponsors include Portfolio Recovery Associates, Inc. (Presenting Partner), Sumitomo Drive Technologies, DAV Combining Chapters Thrift Stores of Hampton Roads VA, Inc., and Electronic Systems Inc.

The VIP Reception is presented by Distinctive Gourmet.

It will be a night of feasting and fun in the name of eliminating hunger in the community.

Tickets will not be available at the door.
