Norfolk, Va. – At least ten to twenty homes were evacuated Saturday night after police received a call for an explosive device.

According to police, they were called to Barre and Galt Streets around 6 p.m.  Police say the object was on the train tracks and appeared to be a white PVC pipe.

Nearby homes were evacuated and the Norfolk bomb squad used a robot to inspect the object.  They determined it was not an explosive device and appears to possibly be railroad apparatus.Residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly before 8 p.m.
