Newport News, Va. – Police have arrested and charged a woman with malicious wounding after they say she stabbed a North Carolina man over the weekend.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 police were dispatched to the 7400 block of River Road in reference to a domestic assault.

The victim, a 21-year-old Raleigh, North Carolina man, told police he had been cut by a large kitchen knife used by a woman he had recently been living with.

Police have identified the woman as 22-year-old Jelicia Rowe.

During a heated argument, police say Rowe went into the kitchen, grabbed a butcher knife, and stabbed him in the left hand. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening wound.

Rowe was then taken into custody in her home. She is charged with Malicious Wounding.
