Girl pulled from drain after jumping in after her dropped cell phone

Posted

Firefighters in Dover, U.K. had to lift a teenage girl from a storm drain earlier this week after she became stuck while trying to retrieve her cell phone.

According to The Guardian, 16-year-old Ella Birchenough hopped into the drain after her Blackberry fell out of her pocket.

Witnesses say the girl was relaxed and more concerned with saving her phone than being rescued.

“I thought to myself, ‘I’m not leaving this’ and I jumped down to get it. I wasn’t really even stuck, I just needed somebody to help lift me out but my mum got all panicky,” she said.

She was pulled from the drain unharmed, but her phone didn’t survive the incident.
