NewsChannel 3's cameras caught a vehicle fire before firefighters even arrived at the scene on Friday.
Photographer Eric Dolezar witnessed a driver with his vehicle smoking on the side of I-664 northbound by Powhatan Parkway on Friday afternoon.
The driver said his truck was fine until it got hot, really hot. Once the fire started, there were two explosions, with the first happening right when fire crews turned the water on.
The second happened once the fire was almost out and starting to smoke up.
It took the firefighters just a few minutes to get the fire out.
The driver only had time to get a roadside safety vest and a pair of shoes out of the truck before the fire took over.
