Two arrested in connection to bank robbery at Towne Bank of Currituck

Camden County, NC – Two people have been charged in Camden County in connection to the armed robbery of Towne Bank of Currituck.

Athena Lau Yancey, 31, and Jesse Lee Baker, 24 were both arrested.

Emergency officials were told about the robbery at around 4:58 p.m. on Thursday.

They were told that Yancey, who was allegedly wearing a wig, showed a note demanding money and had a weapon inside of the bank.

They say she took the cash and ran behind the bank down the street behind the ShoreFlyte dry dock repair facility.

After a search, crews found her hiding in a boat.

Authorities were able to recover the stolen cash.

They say Baker was driving a vehicle that was parked down the street.

Yancey was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and put under a $350,000 secured bond. She is now in the Albemarle District Jail.
