Neighbors found a 64-year-old Portsmouth man shot to death inside his car parked in front of his Grove Street home early Friday morning.
Family members told NewsChannel 3 it was not unusual for Anthony Chapman to sit inside his car at night to think and listen to music. They believe that's what he may have been doing when someone shot and killed him overnight.
"He was too good hearted to hurt anybody," said family friend James Harris. "I can't understand it."
The neighbor who found Chapman's body told NewsChannel 3 he was taking out the trash around 2 a.m. when he saw Chapman slumped over in the car.
"I noticed my neighbor sitting in a car. I spoke to him. I didn't get no reply back from him, and I went to see was he alright," said the neighbor. "He was shot and his window was shot out with a hole in his neck."
Police have not said anything about a possible motive or who could have killed Chapman. Authorities ask anyone with information to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
