Virginia State Police responded to a single vehicle, single occupant fatal crash in Isle of Wight County on Tuesday morning.
It happened at 9:43 a.m. on Route 258, south of Joyner Bridge Road.
Police say 18-year-old Cody Allan Brizzell of Capron, Virginia was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee southbound on Route 258 when he lost control, ran off the road, and struck a tree. The teen died as a result of his injuries, according to police.
Troopers temporarily blocked one lane for the investigation.
Family members have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
