The Newport News Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 800 block of 79th Street at 11:59 a.m. Friday morning after receiving the call at 11:55 a.m.
According to the fire department, the structure was all-clear and the fire was under control at 12:11 p.m.
The Fire Marshal’s Office has concluded that the cause of the fire was accidental, electrical in nature, and originated in a bedroom.
