Chesapeake, Va. – A man is now without a home after a fire heavily damaged his townhome in the Greenbrier section of the city.
Firefighters were called to the fire in the 1800 block of Carrollwood Common at 12:56 a.m. on Friday morning. Arriving eight minutes later, firefighters found flames coming from the back of the two-story townhouse.
Crews had the fire under control at 1:34 a.m.
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The displaced resident was asleep at the time of the fire, officials say, but was able to escape uninjured after being alerted by an operating smoke detector. He has made arrangements to stay with friends in the area.
