Kill Devil Hills, N.C. (WTKR) - A project is underway to add more sidewalks along U.S. 158 in Kill Devil Hills.
Work started earlier this year and Wednesday afternoon contractors were hard at work installing additional sidewalks.
The sidewalks are being added to make sections continuous along the bypass and also fill in spaces where dirt paths are currently being used.
"Every time they come into an area where there's no sidewalk they end up shooting out onto the shoulder of the road," Jeff Tyx of Kill Devil Hills told NewsChannel 3's Todd Corillo.
4,167 linear feet of sidewalk are being added under a contract worth $101, 917.40.
Work is scheduled to be complete by the end of the week.
