Florida rep says Common Core will turn students gay

Posted

A Florida state representative’s remarks against the controversial Common Core education standards are taking the topic to a new level.

State Rep. Charles Van Zant (Rep.) spoke at the Operation Education Conference in Orlando in March. He warned that officials working for the American Institutes for Research “are promoting as hard as they can, any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda.”

A video of the remarks was posted to the Think Progress blog on Monday.

“These people, that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida unless this is stopped, will promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can. I’m sorry to report that to you.”

“I really hate to bring you that news,” he said, “but you need to know.”
