Has anyone ever dared you to challenge yourself to do something you’ve always wanted to do, or have been too scared to do, or just never gotten around to doing?
The boss dared some of the NewsChannel 3 anchors to “Dare Themselves” this week.
NewsChannel 3's Laila Muhammad's challenge involved something she attempted as a teenager that ended in failure and tears.
"When I was 16, I was in a friend's car and I wanted to learn how to drive a stick shift. I had to go across four lanes of traffic on the first attempt. The car stalled out. Traffic was coming towards me. I started crying.
That terrifying experience has been etched in my memory since I was a newly-licensed teen. I've never been back behind the wheel of a stick shift car -- until now.
My boss dared me to do this. So I took my challenge to AAA Tidewater Norfolk Care Care Center where the Lead Automotive Technician Brian Harris gave me a lesson in conquering the manual transmission. You have to watch to see how my lessons went!"
