Portsmouth Police say they are investigating a bomb threat made at Churchland Academy Elementary School on Tuesday morning around 9:40 a.m.

Police say they know the threat was made by a student at the school.

Portsmouth Deputy Fire Chief Michael Stockton says the threat was a drawing found by school officials depicting the destruction of the school.

When authorities responded to the scene, the Fire Marshal and principal decided to evacuate and search the school as a precaution.

Because of the heat, the students were sent over the Churchland High School while the threat was investigated.

Nothing was found and the children returned to school to finish out their afternoon.
