You can help decide on the final plans for a new homeless shelter to be built on Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach.

The plans call for a new center that would be able to house homeless families, in addition to housing single people.

The family housing is something not currently offered at the current shelter — The Lighthouse Center.

The plan would also consolidate essential social services into a “one-stop shop,” like a central intake.

The 32,000 square foot facility would also have showers, a daycare and a classroom.

Plans being looked at now could house 15 families, with a cap at 60 people, with 32 single beds and 20 single apartments to rent.

The plans call for things to be up and running by July 2017, pending a city review and public comment.
