A woman was charged with child neglect in Chesapeake on Tuesday after allegedly leaving her baby in the car while she went into a business in the 3100 block of Western Branch Boulevard.

Chesapeake Police say the woman, 25-year-old Crystal Taylor, claimed she forgot that her five-month-old son was in the backseat.

Concerned citizens removed the baby from the unlocked car and called police.

The baby was transported to Sentara BelleHarbour Hospital. He was not injured and was later released into the custody of his father.

Taylor was charged with neglect and released from the scene.
