During a recent event in Copenhagen, 1,000 people ate the bhut jolokia, one of the hottest chili peppers in the world.
The event was made up of volunteers organized by Chili Klaus to take the ghost pepper challenge.
Each volunteer ate one of the extremely hot peppers and attempted to keep it down.
The pepper averages around 1 million heat units on the Scoville scale, which measures the amount of capsaicin in chili peppers. For example, a jalapeno pepper measures around 3,500 – 4,500 units.
