Norfolk, Va. – Today more brutal details were revealed in court as a judge certified 2nd-degree murder charges against Cortez Scott, a man accused of killing Norfolk woman Rosa Powell.
A detective testified that Scott confessed to hitting Powell in her head and chest with a wrench. He says she then fell to the ground and then he held his foot on her head.
The detective says Cortez admits that he threw the murder weapon and Powell’s cell phone into the pond. He also says he threw away his shirt and shoes to get rid of any evidence.
The detective says Scott and Powell went on a walk. He says he was told the two got into an argument. Cortez says Powell smacked him first and that’s when he picked up the wrench.
After she was reported missing, Powell’s body was found near a pond off Roberts Road. Days later Scott was arrested.
