Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe arrived in Northampton County on Friday morning to survey tornado damage at the Cherrystone Family Camping Resort.

Gov. McAuliffe met with public responders, campers and campground staff.

He requested prayers for the family of the two victims and for their 13-year-old son who remains in the ICU in "very, very critical condition."

He says he is very pleased with how the community rallied, helping responders and victims.

"I can only stand here as Governor with pride after that response," he said.

Aside from the devastation at the campground, Gov. McAuliffe says 500-900 acres of corn, 400 acres of cotton and over 1,000 acres of soybeans were damaged during the storm.

He says they are looking into federal assistance to make sure everyone gets reimbursed.
