Chesapeake, Va. - Accused of abducting her 4-year-old granddaughter, a woman arrested in Chesapeake over the weekend says she didn't do anything wrong.
Terry Omeni spoke to NewsChannel 3 from inside the Chesapeake City Jail Tuesday.
The grandmother was taken into custody at a Chesapeake hotel Sunday morning. She tells NewsChannel 3 she called police to let them know they were there, after learning from a family member that police from Missouri were looking for them.
When Omeni found out Sabrina had been listed as a missing and endangered child, she says she couldn't believe it.
Omeni originally had permission to have her granddaughter over the summer. The problems arose when it was time for her to go home on the 21st.
Omeni says she told the mom she couldn't afford the return trip right then, but the girl's mom says after that conversation, she could no longer reach the grandmother and called police.
Omeni says her phone had been turned off because she couldn't pay the bill.
She now faces a child abduction charge in Missouri. She'll remain in the Chesapeake City Jail until she can be extradited.
