Crash causes Hampton power outages

Posted

Hampton, Va. – More than 180 customers lost power this morning due to a crash in Hampton, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

A car struck a power pole between Barracks Road and Armistead Avenue, causing an outage at 10:39 a.m., according to Dominion Virginia Power officials.

The outage is affecting 186 customers, according to Dominion officials and the Dominion Virginia Power website. This includes the Hampton Coliseum, the Courtyard Marriott, and Embassy Suites.

Dominion crews are on the scene, determining whether or not they can reenergize the lines safely to replace the pole.  If they have to deenergize power while conducting repairs, 226 additional customers will lose power.

The estimated time of restoration is 3 p.m., officials tell NewsChannel 3.
