Building reopens after suspicious package reported at Norfolk childhood center

Norfolk, Va. - Norfolk Public Schools received a report of a suspicious package on the grounds of Berkley-Campostella Early Childhood Center early Monday morning, according to a spokesperson for Norfolk Public Schools.

Police and Norfolk Fire and Rescue crews reportedly responded to the scene and investigated, officials say.

Norfolk Public Schools alerted parents and staff via reverse phone calls that the grounds and school building were temporarily closed until the investigation was complete.

The building was cleared for opening at 8:18 a.m. Monday morning.
