There are several bridge closures scheduled in Chesapeake in the upcoming days:
Dominion Blvd at the Steel Bridge will be closed overnight on Thursday, September 18 from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. as part of the Dominion Blvd Improvement Project as crews place concrete bridge deck for the new bridge span.
Motorists can take George Washington Highway or Route 168 Bypass as an alternate route.
Additionally, the Bridges Division will close both northbound lanes on the Great Bridge Bridge on Battlefield Blvd overnight on Wednesday, September 24 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Both directions of traffic will still be maintained, one lane in each direction, through the open lanes. Crews will be replacing the traffic gate at the bridge.
