Teen wanted in connection with Portsmouth burglary

Portsmouth, Va. – The Portsmouth Police Department is asking for help in finding a suspect who is wanted in connection with a burglary that occurred in the Cavalier Manor section of the city. Police are searching for 18-year-old John A. Rutledge, Jr. of the 600 block of Meander Road in Portsmouth.

According to detectives, Rutledge is accused of committing a burglary in the 200 block of Avondale Road on June 16, 2014. After being served with his outstanding warrants in connection with the burglary, Rutledge failed to appear for his court hearing. As a result the court issued a Contempt of Court warrant for Rutledge on August 29, 2014.

Rutledge is described as a light skinned black male, approximately 5’10” tall and weighing 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of John A. Rutledge, Jr. is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. You do not have to give your name or testify in court. If your information leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
