Researchers at Arizona State University have developed a jet pack that they think will eventually help every soldier be able to run a four-minute mile while carrying heavy gear.
Working with the Defense Advanced Research and Project Agency (DARPA), they have shown that runners equipped with the jet pack completed a 200 meter run in less time while expending less energy, according to IFLScience.
While jetpacks are usually associated with flying around, this one just gives the runner a boost, helping them to shave off time while also decreasing the amount of effort put into the activity.
