Virginia Beach, Va. – A third person has been bitten by a fox in the same area of Virginia Beach.

The most recent attack was reported early Saturday.  According to Meghan Conti with Virginia Beach Animal Control, the victim was in the front yard of a house in the 2900 block of Elegance Lane, which is near Indian River Rd., when the fox ran up and bit the person.

The other two attacks were reported on Friday evening in a nearby neighborhood within about ten minutes of each other.

According to Conti, the first victim was attacked around 7:40 in the 2800 block of Crescent Moon Ct.  The victim was getting into a car when the fox ran out from underneath it and attacked her.

Shortly after that, someone was in the yard of a house in the 2800 block  of Majestic Oak Ct.  The fox followed the person into the home’s garage and attacked.

Animal Control has set up traps in the area to catch the fox, but so far it is still on the loose.

Conti says they cannot say if the animal is rabid without testing it, but it is showing the characteristics of having rabies.  Conti says the fox was not provoked in any of the cases.
