Currituck Co. experiencing problems receiving 911 calls from Knotts Island

Update: Verizon has resolved the Knotts Island 911 issue.   Calls are now going to the appropriate call center. 

Currituck County, N.C. – Currituck County Communications is currently having problems receiving 911 calls from the community of Knotts Island.

According to an emergency management spokesperson, only wireless calls are going directly to the dispatch center.  911 land line calls are being forwarded to Virginia Beach Communications.

If you cannot get through by dialing 9-1-1, you can call the Communications Center at (252) 232-2216 or (252) 232-2424.

Verizon is aware of the issue and is working to repair the service.
