UPDATE: Victim in weekend Williamsburg boating accident dies

UPDATE: A spokesman for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries confirms that the victim who sustained life-threatening injuries in the boating accident died on Tuesday, September 30th at 6:04 p.m. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.


Williamsburg, Va. – Two people were rescued from the water Sunday, September 28th at Waller Mill Park after their boat overturned.

According to Eric Stone with the Williamsburg Fire Dept., they received a call about the overturned boat at 3:26 p.m.

People at the scene reported that they saw two people in the water.  One was yelling for help while holding up another person who appeared to be unconscious.

Bystanders performed CPR on that person until medics arrived.

The men were taken to a hospital.  One man has life-threatening injuries; the other is expected to be okay.

It’s unknown at this point what caused the boat to overturn.
