Man on scooter hit, dragged by vehicle in James City County

James City County Police are investigating a hit and run crash.

On October 3, 2014 at 11:18 p.m., James City County Police responded to a hit and run crash that occurred in the 8600 block of Pocahontas Trail.

Police say a 52-year-old James City County man was driving a motor scooter west on Pocahontas Trail near the intersection of Woodside Drive when he was struck from behind by a small white or light-colored vehicle. The man and scooter were then dragged approximately 450 feet. The vehicle did not stop and continued westbound, police say.The injured scooter driver was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center by ambulance where he was treated for lacerations and abrasions and later released.

Police are asking for anyone with information on this hit and run crash to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. The suspect’s vehicle may have damage to the front end and/or undercarriage and the driver may seek to repair the vehicle.
