Arrest made in shooting of man carrying baby in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk Police have arrested a 24-year-old man following a shooting on Wednesday, October 8th that injured a man holding an infant.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, the victim was shot outside in the 1100 block of Mariner Street.

The man was transported from the scene to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appears to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Police say it appears the victim was also holding an infant in his arms when the shooting occurred. The infant did not sustain any gunshot wounds, but was transported to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters for precautionary reasons.

Detectives have arrested 24-year-old Blair Salone of the 300 block of San Antonio Blvd., and have charged him with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
