Homeless man arrested in Williamsburg shooting

Williamsburg, Va. – A homeless man has been arrested in a shooting on Merrimac Trail in Williamsburg that left another man wounded Wednesday afternoon.

20-year-old John Lee Johnson was charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony after allegedly shooting an acquaintance during a fight.

The shooting happened around 2:50pm in the 100 block of Merrimac Trail. Johnson was arrested nearby.

The victim was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Johnson is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.
