Portsmouth, Va.- City Councilman Bill Moody is warning people about potential new tolls. He tweeted, "Keep an eye on HRTAC. The tolling of a 3rd Crossing has already been discussed. Look out for the tolling of the Monitor Merrimac."

The Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission is talking about major road projects, including a potential third water crossing to help ease traffic around the HRBT and Monitor Merrimac.

The project would link the Monitor Merrimac to Norfolk, but would also include road widening. "I don't want Hampton Roads to become a ring of tolls. It looks like we may be headed that way," Moody said.

Moody thinks the project could lead to new tolls, including at the Monitor Merrimac, but so far no decision has been made.

The next step is to look at the impact this would have on the environment.
