Suffolk, Va. - A Suffolk homeowner will have to find another place to stay for a while after police say a tractor trailer slammed into his home on Monday.

The crash happened in the 5300 block of Pruden Boulevard/Route 460 around 6:53 p.m.

The tractor trailer was going eastbound when it went off the road and drove through an attached porch that connected to the two story home.

The owner, an 83-year-old man, was at home but was not hurt.

The tractor trailer driver, identified as 47-year-old Kevin Maur Bowden of Wilson, North Carolina, was evaluated but did not require medical treatment. He has been issued a summons for Reckless Driving.

The owner of the home is now staying with family members.

Suffolk building officials inspected the premises Tuesday and advised that it was structurally secure as the affected portion was the attached breezeway and not the home itself.
