Suffolk, Va. – For the past few years, the members of the Higher Calling Ministries & partnering churches have been attempting to do something remarkable- and this year their mission will finally be put to action.

The “Share-a-meal” event is set to take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Kings Fork Community House found at 1600 Kings Fork Road.

“This has been a dream for me to work with feeding people on Thanksgiving for about 15 years. Every time I’m sitting at the Thanksgiving table I’m thinking ‘there are so many people out there who need to be fed'” said Pastor Barbara Alexander.

Transportation will be provided by church vans from Suffolk Christian Church and Providence Methodist Church. They plan on running the vans periodically for the full four hours; an official schedule will be provided by the church when a full list of attendees is made.

The pickup sites include: the salvation army on 400 Bank Street, Corey Park apartments on 804 W Constance Road, and the new bus shelter by the train station in Suffolk on 326 N Main Street.

“Share-a-meal” is free and open to anyone in need. The deadline for calling to reserve a spot is November 20th. Anyone seeking further information or wishing to RSVP should call Pastor Barbara Alexander at 757-676-7720.
