Hampton Roads, Va. - It's that time of year again! A time to gather with friends and loved ones to celebrate the things in life you appreciate the most. One way many families around the world carry out this tradition is by sitting around the table with a giant turkey feast. Two turkey drives were held today to provide the items for that joyous occasion: one in Chesapeake and another in Norfolk.

For over 22 years, the Rose and Womble Foundation in Chesapeake has hosted the Annual Turkey Brigade. The organization partnered with the United States Navy and the United States Marines to help assemble bags for the thanksgiving giveaways this year. The bags included items such as a turkey, sweet peas, corn, green beans, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, potatoes and apples. The organization was able to deliver bags to 1000 families.

In Norfolk, community activist Joe Johnson put together a turkey drive with the hopes of feeding over 500 families. With the help of supporters in the community, Joe was able to accomplish his goal while putting smiles on the faces of many, who could only frown with worry before today.
